LFP Battery Cell: Achieving True Energy Independence

What is an LFP Battery Cell?

An LFP battery, or Lithium Iron Phosphate battery, refers to a lithium-ion battery that uses lithium iron phosphate as the cathode material. Its charge and discharge principle is similar to that of lithium cobalt oxide, involving the intercalation and deintercalation of lithium ions.

Advantages of LFP Battery Cells

Good Safety Performance

The P-O bond in the lithium iron phosphate crystal is stable and hard to decompose. Even at high temperatures or when overcharged, it does not undergo the structural collapse and heating seen in lithium cobalt oxide, nor does it form strong oxidative substances. It is also difficult to cause explosions in puncture or short-circuit tests.

Long Service Life

The cycle life of LFP battery cells can reach over 2000 times. Under standard charging conditions, the theoretical lifespan can reach 7-8 years, making it more cost-effective compared to lead-acid batteries.

Good High-Current Discharge Performance

It can quickly charge and discharge at a high current of 2C. With a dedicated charger, it can be fully charged within 40 minutes at 1.5C. The starting current can reach 2C, a performance unmatched by lead-acid batteries.

Excellent High-Temperature Performance

The thermal peak can reach 350℃-500℃, and it has a wide operating temperature range of -20℃ to +75℃. In comparison, the thermal peaks of lithium manganese oxide and lithium cobalt oxide are only around 200℃.

Large Capacity

The single capacity of LFP battery cells ranges from 5Ah to 1000Ah, offering a larger capacity compared to conventional batteries such as lead-acid batteries.

No Memory Effect

No matter what state the LFP battery cell is in, it can be used immediately after charging without the need to discharge completely before recharging, unlike nickel-metal hydride and nickel-cadmium batteries, which have a memory effect.

Lightweight and Compact

The volume of an LFP battery of the same capacity specification is 2/3 of that of a lead-acid battery, and its weight is 1/3 of that of a lead-acid battery.

Environmentally Friendly

It does not contain any heavy metals or rare metals, is non-toxic, non-polluting, meets European RoHS standards, and is a green and environmentally friendly battery.

Applications of LFP Battery Cells

LFP battery cells are widely used in new energy vehicles, low-speed vehicles, energy storage systems, electric tools, remote control toys, solar and wind power storage equipment, UPS and emergency lights, small medical instrument equipment, and other fields.
